Author – Quinn Askeland
Hi, my name is Quinn.
I believe in improving international and financial freedom for all.
I have traveled and lived overseas for most of my adult life and gave up “working for the man” to start a business in 2000 helping others work and travel overseas.
Whilst helping others to get set up overseas and running a business in multiple currencies, I also changed the country where I lived four times.
Over time, I grew increasingly frustrated at the healthy cut banks took whenever you do anything where two currencies are involved. But the most frustrating part was realizing that these losses compounded as I paid others and especially every time I moved.
And that says nothing about the difficulty in getting paid, the fact that it took a week or more for the money to clear, and bank tellers that couldn’t seem to help me with anything.
Meanwhile, other people are doing far worse! The average remittance for someone sending money back home to their family still costs 6.2% in 2023 according to the World Bank.
And that’s including the much better services we have today.
So in 2014, I started Transumo to try and help as many people as possible.
My goal is to simplify the complexities of international money and make it way less expensive, faster, and even (if possible) more enjoyable for everyone – travelers, expats, immigrants, and business owners.
I believe we can all help to make the world a better place by finding better services for our own needs.
When I am not working on Transumo you can find me trying to be a good dad or riding around in the bush on my mountain bike.
I also love fixing or making stuff, growing veggies, and having adventures in nature that usually humble me.
You can email me directly at quinn@transumo.com or contact me through my socials.
